As with many of my discoveries, I came across Porteen Gear while browsing around Etsy for unique mirrorless accessories to test. I was immediately drawn to the elegant design, attractive form and classic colours that epitomise the company’s series of camera bags, but my heart was won over when I saw that the designer and company founder, Robyn Porteen, also produces a series of compact bags for mirrorless cameras. To my delight, she was more than happy to send me a bag to test and review.

Photokina 2014: Hands-on with the Canon PowerShot G7X a.k.a. the RX100’s new rival
For over two years, Sony has managed to monopolise the high-end point-and-shoot market with its RX100 series. The original RX100 made its debut in June 2012, whereas the third generation came out only a few months ago. It was the world’s first truly pocketable high-end camera which, with the help of its 20MP 1-inch sensor, became a very appealing second “carry-around” body for professionals and advanced shooters, and had remained unrivalled up until this year’s Photokina, when the brand new Canon PowerShot G7X came onto the scene.
Photokina 2014: Interview with Nikon Product Manager Dirk Jasper about the 1 System
The last interview we held at Photokina was with Dirk Jasper, product manager for professional products at Nikon. Despite having released the Nikon 1 compact system series quite early on in the game, Nikon hasn’t quite embraced the mirrorless concept to the extent other brands have. This being the case, we felt compelled to ask Mr. Jasper a number of questions relating to the series, such as what Nikon’s plans are for the 1 series, how the series has been received so far, and how Nikon feels about the current competition. Below you can find his answers. Enjoy!
Note: Mr. Jasper is the product manager for professional products. His main discipline is not the Nikon 1 series. With him was also present Tom Brett (Brand Manager)

Besides the CM1 smart camera, Panasonic also announced two other cameras at Photokina 2014: the LX100 and GM5. We had the chance to briefly try out both at the Panasonic booth at Photokina, and develop some first impressions about them.
