Since publishing my review of the Zeiss Loxia 21mm, I’ve received several comments and emails asking about the differences between this wide-angle prime and the Batis 25mm. In my opinion, these two lenses are very different in terms of how they should be used out in the field but I can understand the doubt. As of now, they are two of only three wide angle prime lenses available for the Sony FE mount system (excluding all the possibilities with adapted lenses of course). So I decided to extend my thoughts to a more complete analysis with the hope that it will satisfy the curiosity of other Sony FE users as well.
A companion for architecture and landscapes – Zeiss Loxia 21mm f/2.8 Review
In late October we had the chance to test a pre-production sample of the new Zeiss Loxia 21mm for the Sony E-mount during an enjoyable event in Cambridge. These last two weeks have been spent with a final version, allowing us to complete our analysis.
The 21mm is the third manual focus lens designed by Zeiss for the A7 full-frame mirrorless cameras and in my opinion it is also the most interesting focal length out of the three. As of now, this is the widest prime available for the FE system but I expect to see new products in 2016.

Wildlife photographers could fall in love with this – The Olympus EE-1 Dot Sight review
The Olympus Dot Sight EE-1 is a handy accessory to use with long telephoto lenses. By generating a dot style illuminated reticle, it helps you to frame subjects that are far away and moving fast, with birds being the most natural example. Olympus introduced the Dot Sight first in the form of the SP-100, a superzoom bridge camera that has it built-in. Then the company released a separate accessory along with the M.Zuiko 40-150mm Pro lens and MC-14 Teleconverter in 2014. I’d always been interested in trying it out and the chance came with the new 300mm Pro that we recently reviewed.
The new X generation is here: thoughts about the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and what to expect from the X-T2
In case you hadn’t noticed (but if you follow camera blogs it is unlikely), Fujifilm announced a lot of new products today. Not only is the highly anticipated X-Pro2 here at long last, but we were also presented with two other new cameras, a flash unit, a lens and a firmware update … and it is only January 15th! What will Fujifilm do for Photokina, I wonder?

Before returning the new Olympus 300mm f/4 Pro, I had the chance to use it for the last few days with the MC-14 teleconverter. Since feedback about using the teleconverter with the 300mm is missing from my full review of the lens, I decided to share some images and thoughts in this separate post.
