Yesterday we received the brand new Panasonic Leica 100-400mm lens to review. Knowing that the good weather wouldn’t last long, I spent all of yesterday afternoon and this morning at our favourite natural reserve in Wales, Ynys Hir. I collected a good variety of images, so I decided to share them with you right away.

Before returning the new Olympus 300mm f/4 Pro, I had the chance to use it for the last few days with the MC-14 teleconverter. Since feedback about using the teleconverter with the 300mm is missing from my full review of the lens, I decided to share some images and thoughts in this separate post.

Since its announcement in March 2014, I’ve been very curious to try the 1 Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 with a Nikon 1 camera. The 1 system has always had one of the fastest autofocus systems among mirrorless cameras and with that lens mounted, you get a 189-810mm (full-frame equivalent) in a very small and lightweight package (less than 800g).
Last night, we and the rest of the world were witnesses to an event that only happens a few times per century, a super blood moon lunar eclipse. To give you an idea of the infrequency of this event, the last one happened before Mathieu and I were born and the next one won’t happen until 2033!

I was invited, along with many other journalists and bloggers, to visit Zeiss’ headquarters in Oberkochen, Germany. The event was organised to launch a new series of products and to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Zeiss camera lenses. Before attending, I wasn’t exactly sure which products Zeiss would announce and it turned out they are not directly mirrorless related. Instead, the German brand presented a new series of DSLR lenses called Milvus.
