After trying the new Leica Summarit-M, the Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f0.95 and the Samyang 50mm f/1.4 on the Sony A7s, our hands-on with manual focus lenses continued when we stopped at the ZY Optics booth a second time to test their new lenses for Micro Four Thirds. We also popped by the Voigtländer booth to get a look on the new 10.5mm f/0.95.

If you’ve been following our Photokina reportage, you’ll know that we were very impressed with the two Zeiss Loxia lenses, but we mustn’t forget about the other interesting manual focus lenses for the Sony full frame system on display as well. Two of these lenses, the Mitakon Speedmaster “Dark Knight” Pro 50mm f/0.95 and Samyang 50mm f/1.4, were recently announced and available to try at Photokina.
Photokina 2014: Interview with Nikon Product Manager Dirk Jasper about the 1 System
The last interview we held at Photokina was with Dirk Jasper, product manager for professional products at Nikon. Despite having released the Nikon 1 compact system series quite early on in the game, Nikon hasn’t quite embraced the mirrorless concept to the extent other brands have. This being the case, we felt compelled to ask Mr. Jasper a number of questions relating to the series, such as what Nikon’s plans are for the 1 series, how the series has been received so far, and how Nikon feels about the current competition. Below you can find his answers. Enjoy!
Note: Mr. Jasper is the product manager for professional products. His main discipline is not the Nikon 1 series. With him was also present Tom Brett (Brand Manager)

Photokina 2014: First impressions of the Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM for the M-mount system
One of the new products announced by Zeiss at Photokina was a new lens for the ZM series (Leica M-mount). The Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 is a great addition for rangefinder users who want a high quality 35mm lens but also a less expensive alternative to the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux by Leica. The new 35mm offers a faster aperture of f/1.4 in comparison to the other two Biogon 35mm f/2 and 35mm f/2.8 ZM lenses already in existence. Zeiss was kind enough to let me try the lens on a Leica M240. [Read more…] about Photokina 2014: First impressions of the Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZM for the M-mount system
