The Sony a6500 surprised everyone when it was announced only six months after the a6300. Though nearly identical in appearance and specifications, the new camera adds 5-axis stabilisation and a larger buffer memory while improving the overheating issue when recording in 4K. These and a couple of other small improvements make the a6500 the flagship APS-C mirrorless camera for the E-mount system. Following more than two months of testing, we can finally present our complete review of the camera to you.

In my full review of the RX100 mark IV, I stated in the title that it was the most powerful compact camera ever created. Well, with the RX100 V, Sony managed to do even better. Sony a6500 Hands-on and First Impressions
Sony announced its new flagship APS-C camera, the a6500, a week ago and we had the chance to see a pre-production version at the Sony Europe headquarters in Weybridge. We couldn’t bring back pictures or video footage but spending a few hours with the new camera gave us an idea about its new features and the little upgrades in design and function. Most importantly, it gave us the opportunity to reflect on its rightful place as the flagship APS-C model and Sony’s aggressive strategy with its frequent camera releases.

Sony RX1r II Review – The best IQ in the smallest package: what’s not to like?
The original Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX1 was more important than you might think. Despite being a niche product and, at the time of release, probably also an experiment, it opened up the floodgates to more full-frame mirrorless products that the company would introduce later on. The first RX1 was unprecedented because it housed a 35mm full-frame sensor inside an extremely compact body. This is also why it retained the label ‘Cyber-Shot’, the name of Sony’s compact camera series.

One of the primary arguments against mirrorless cameras has always been the autofocus performance for action genres like sports and wildlife, and mirrorless manufacturers have been hard at work finding ways to close the gap with DSLRs.
